Jim’s Revenge

Kindle Edition and paperback

Sherin Five stars *****

Andrew Williams has done it again! A relevant and timely story that’s a must read for everyone. Though the story is about a good man Jim who finally decides to give it back to his bullies, it is a story that many will be able to relate to.

We’re all living in a harsh world were bullies think it’s OK to push people who are silent, don’t voice out, or don’t have the looks or means, and what not. In most cases, they just bully because they want to and find reasons to give!

Case in Point – Jim who finally decides he needs to step up and take charge if he wants to put a real stop to bullying. He did not want to cower anymore and what happens when a silent man suddenly decides to create a storm?

An intriguing, relevant, thought-provoking thriller that keeps you hooked from beginning to the end, wondering what is going to happen next. If you want to know what happened, pick up the book now!

Jim’s Revenge is a witty, cleverly planned plot with so many happening at the same time that you get lost in all the details. With this book, details definitely made the story. Each scene another building block cleverly devised till the end. And the end result was fantastic. Revenge is sweet is a good description for this book and deserves a round of applause.

The dialogue is written in such a way that it pulls you in and keeps your attention. Through it, you really get to know the characters, one by one.

Jim, the main character is a pensioner. To curb the boredom he applied for a job across the street at Slobend, Fleecem & Skinnem. Without adding some spoilers to the review it definitely is good to know, because it forms the foundation of the plot. The entire plot involves the employees of this company and Jim learned quickly. All I am willing to mention is that practical jokes have a way to catch up to you. Watch out who you play with. Jim might be old but definitely not senile or stupid. After this, you will have to buy the book. Seriously, it will be money well spent.

 Jim’s Revenge

By Andrew R. Williams

This is a mystery thriller that made me wonder and think quite a bit not only about what was going to happen next but also about what would happen to some of the characters. It is an unforgettable story that lingers with you for a while even after you have read the story. It is a story that has breath and depth.

Jim Godwin was a man who tried hard to live a life that was not transparent. He tried to even do the honorable thing from time to time. All he wanted was a part-time job to put a bit of money on the table. But instead, he just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. He was dragged into the underbelly of a world that he didn’t expect.

This world was anything but calm and peaceful. His job was anything but straightforward. He was bullied and manipulated. He kept putting up with all the turmoil and destructive things that they said and did to him until he snapped and decided to stop being the pushover and be the bully himself.

This is a story that a lot of people will be able to relate to in today’s day and age. There are so many people who seem to be psychologically and sometimes even physically hurt and abused by manipulative and destructive people. And it is all too human to feel like getting back at these people and giving them a bit of their own toxic fumes and abuse.

This story is well-paced, and it has some comic elements. The plot is intriguing, and it leaves one wondering what will happen next. The scenes are poignant and well-illustrated. I read this story quickly the first time. But then I reread it in order to pick up some of the subtleties and nuances.  I can’t wait to read Williams’ next book.

Jim’s Revenge is completely different from Andrew William’s other novels so I must admit, I read it wondering whether he could deliver the same quality. The answer is definitely. The characters are well drawn and the plot is as intense as always –

ARCADIA’S CHILDREN

Arcadia’s Children: Samantha’s Revenge – It was amazing

I really enjoyed this book while I was reading it this last week of November. I was drawn in by the plot and mainly because it featured a diva humanoid who held the power to control her realm and those who she selects from differing locations to do her dirty work. Her name is Samantha and she is the leader of a company called Minton Mining Company who owns Arden, the main moon of Arcadia the planet in which this book is entirely about. Add to her intriguing factor are two characters who come with their own wits and strengths, them being: Mick Tarmy, a former police officer and Claire Hyndman who Samantha resurrected from her own devious plans just for the occasion of fighting what are known to be the Great Ones of Arden.

This book amazed me with the vast scientific knowledge that its author uses to form his plot and his robotic, humanoid characters. The fact that he knows the terms and details to tell this Sci-fi tale of his proves he knows a lot about the subject he writes about and that is to me an A+. My favorite character is Claire Hyndman because of her special abilities to morph into any kind of persona. She also has a lot of strength and flexibility in her to fight her enemies. I also like the fact that she has a little robot for a friend who is also her bodyguard who looks after her when she is in the middle of battle. This is the kind of book that has a “sorry” front cover but its contents are amazing and entertaining. I judged this book by its cover and I feel ashamed of myself for that. I disliked the cover but when I read into the middle of the book I was definitely enticed into its world of advanced technology and uniformity. While I was reading it I felt like I was watching a movie like Star Wars or the early 80s “V: The Final Battle.” There was absolutely no sexuality in this book and that is a great thing because it was a Sci-fi book. It would feel strange to watch characters in space having some of that because I always felt that astronauts and the sort don’t need sex due to their attire and the lack of gravity in outerspace…haha! My final comments about this book is that I hope it gets the credit its due for being such a well-thought out story by this yet diamond in the rough author. Good job Mr. Williams!

I recommend this beauty to those who love. It is also a great book to introduce this genre to those who may find it to be kind of hard to grasp, like me. I think for those of you who are into movies like Star Wars, Star Trek, and Starship Troopers, to don’t overlook this one because you will definitely miss out! Like I mentioned above, I had thought this book would be boring and dry and therefore approached it with walls around me but by the middle of it, I was up cheering and rooting for the good guys to bring home the bacon! I am going to say this and I’m saying it with a bang: I enjoyed this book so much you need to take my word for it and get it! Yes! Don’t be late to the game!
